Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half-light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams. Liz and Chris cycling from New Zealand to England!

We are delighted to have been put in touch with Liz Walton and Chis Leakey as they blog http://www.bikeabout.co.uk their cycle ride across the world. They are raising money for some important children’s charities and they are sharing their amazing adventures with all of us by blogging when they can. I have been greatly impressed by the photography and writing they share and would urge all those that can to support their tremendous project. As a teacher I have recently found that the problems they deal with and the people they meet are super points around which to build assemblies and collective worship. Thank you to Sarah Leakey http://leakeysbubble.edublogs.org for sharing this and ‘the postcard project’ with us.

This is a thrilling project. I am hoping to do a fundraising day in the Autumn term, but we will build up our understanding of the trip over a series of assemblies where I share the posts of Chis and Liz. Right now we are thinking about all the problems the wind is giving them in the Gobi . Thanks for organising this opportunity, I hope one or two other local schools might join in.Mr E

Hi to everyone at Hawes,It is so wonderful that you are joining us on our adventure to learn about and support Child’s Dream. We look forward to hearing what you have been finding out and exploring as part of your assemblies. We are currently researching the countries Burma, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia as part of the project. You can see some of the things we have started doing on our shared blog: http://connectingchildren.edublogs.orgWe look forward to you sharing some of your ideas on the blog as well.Did you know that Ms. Terry’s class in Thailand and some of the other Grade 4 classes raised $2700 for Child’s Dream – we were very impressed. We will try our best to raise some money too.Miss Leakey and The Pirates
